I Am My Brothers Keeper
Inescapable, the news washes over
me
Another quake, another flood ...
Messages of despair (or hope) from
the rubble
Migrants – Asylum Seekers, the new
shibboleths
Yet I, with my accent, made welcome
Banks promote schemes to help us
donate
Reasoning that it is an ‘emergency’
we dig deep
Only to forget when 'normality'
returns
Tomorrow there will be a new cause
...
Helping has become a badge of
honour
Every act of kindness recorded for
public consumption
Repeat as necessary
Sticking a bandaid on every wound
Kitchen scraps scavenged from
dusty hills
Elevated arguments for political
change
Elites encouraging ‘dialogue’
delaying for another day ... another
year ...
Perhaps we should now look in a
new direction
Every one of us becoming involved
Revolution ... one day at a time ...
one heart at a time
